This course is aimed at beginners or improvers who wish to learn how to cover cakes achieving a professional finish, addressing elephant skin issues and rips and water damage. You will learn about colouring sugarpaste, colour schemes, attractive decorative techniques and of course a little bit of character or animal modelling for the toppers of your cake. You will also learn how to pipe lettering and borders with royal icing. You will learn how to make easy foliage and flowers. You will also learn about different types of cake decorating sugarpastes and tools on the market and how to use them. We will be troubleshooting together, learning some technical methods, and at the same time, having fun allowing your creative juices to run wild. Build your cake decorating confidence on this course, so that you can impress your family, colleagues, and friends, upskill or just simply develop a new passion for cakes. We will be working on dummy cakes.Week 1 Introduction to tools, colouring sugarpaste and covering a cake, with Sugarpaste/fondant and troubleshooting. Making a realistic edible ribbon bow for the final touches of your cake The assembly of works (using the materials made previously) and the finishing touches. Incorporating the importance of ribbons, and appropriate colours schemes.
