This course is aimed at beginners or improvers who wish to learn how to cover & decorate cakes achieving a professional finish.
Principally you will be taught the foundations of how to coat a cake properly using different mediums such as buttercream, sugar paste (fondant), ganache and royal icing. Week by week, You will develop contemporary styles of decorating understanding the principles of colour and texture to achieve that professional and smooth finish.
You will also be piping a variety of floral decorations to top-off your various cakes, and you will be making various eye-catching toppers.
Your first project will be the Cartoon/Comic cake which is currently taking the cake decorating world by storm. These are contemporary style of whimsical cakes that are decorated to look like cartoons, and they are incredibly fun to re-create. In the future weeks, we will look at ganache cakes (achieving those sharp sides), then we decorate fondant cakes.
The aims of this course will be to build your confidence, learn new and tried and trusted techniques and of course have fun!
