Dealing with clay can be very therapeutic for mental health and it improves functionality of fine motor skills while providing a sense of creative achievement. This 11 week course is for Adults with Learning Difficulties and supports health and independent living pathways. During this exiting learning opportunity you will create your own pottery for functional or non-functional use. In Term 2 you will explore the coiled pot method and decorative techniques from readily made tools such as moulds, found or other object. Then you will focus on adding colour with slip/engobes, oxides, underglaze colours and glazes. You will also build on from previous learning and combine both methods of pinching and coiling. Your personal creativity will be inspired by looking at examples of finished work; researching in books; on the internet and on Youtube.
