This course aims to raise awareness about healthy eating principles by supporting you to make healthy, nutritious recipes using unprocessed food. You will learn about a variety of foods, a healthy diet and shopping You will practise basic cookery skills with help, or independently, including weighing ingredients, chopping, slicing, peeling and mixing, setting oven controls and timing cooking.You will be able to place foods in the main food groups so that you can plan balanced meals and manage portion size when dishing up and produce a personal eating plan where practical advice is given considering any medical conditions that can be improved by diet. You will gain a basic knowledge of food hygiene, kitchen safety and using equipment independently and safely.
