This two-part course explores how an everyday object can be transformed into a contemporary sculptural artwork. Using a single bottle as your starting point, you will investigate processes of intervention, deconstruction, and reconstruction to challenge how we see and understand materials.Through techniques such as cutting, drilling, controlled fragmentation, stitching, and wrapping, you will alter the bottles original form breaking its function and reimagining it as a sculptural study. Your work will then be kiln-formed, allowing heat to further shift and transform the material, from subtle distortion to more dramatic change. This is a process-led, experimental course, where outcomes are discovered rather than predetermined. The emphasis is on exploration, material behaviour, and the balance between control and chance.
