Explore how jewellery can tell a story in this hands-on course combining casting, metalwork, and mixed media processes.Working across a series of practical, demonstration-led sessions, you will create a collection of contemporary jewellery that combines Jesmonite casting, etched metal elements, and found objects. Youll learn how to develop ideas through materials transforming fragments, textures, and personal objects into meaningful wearable forms.Using Jesmonite as your primary process, you will create cast components, surface textures, and formed elements, which you will then combine with etched copper or brass pieces. These elements will be brought together with simple construction techniques and found materials to form layered, narrative jewellery pieces. Each session is focused on making, with step-by-step guidance and supported workshop time to build your skills and develop your designs.By the end of the course, you will have produced a small collection of mixed media jewellery, including: A series of Jesmonite cast components and test pieces Etched copper or brass elements with decorative or narrative surfaces Assembled jewellery pieces combining cast forms, metal, and found objects At least 23 finished wearable pieces, such as brooches, pendants, or small sculptural jewellery formsThese outcomes will reflect your own ideas and material choices, resulting in a unique body of work that explores material, memory, and personal narrative.
