Dive into the dynamic, experimental world of Gerhard Richter in this one-day studio painting workshop at the Brockley Rise Centre. Through group discussion, practical demonstrations, and personalised one?to?one guidance, youll investigate Richters diverse approaches to paintingranging from his expressive abstract squeegee works to his blurred photorealistic imagery.Throughout the day, youll explore techniques such as layered application, scraping, dragging, and controlled blurring to create surface depth and movement. The session will encourage playful experimentation with colour, gesture, and chance, supporting you to develop paintings that balance intention with spontaneity. If you wish to work from your own photographs or visual references, please bring them along.Learners who prefer to pursue their own creative projects are welcome to do so; the tutor will adapt their support to suit your individual interests, experience, and goals.
