This practical two-day workshop offers an in-depth introduction to the principles and techniques of ceramic glazing. Designed for potters of all levels who want to build confidence and understanding in surface finishing, the course explores both the creative and technical aspects of glazing.Over the two days, participants will develop knowledge of different types of glazes and their properties, including how ingredients influence colour, texture, and finish. Through demonstrations and hands-on application, learners will explore a variety of glazing methods such as dipping, brushing, pouring, and layering to achieve a range of visual effects.The workshop also introduces key concepts in glaze chemistry, helping participants understand how temperature, kiln atmospheres, and materials interact during firing. Guidance will be given on testing and recording results, enabling learners to make informed decisions and develop consistent outcomes in their own practice.With expert support throughout, participants will have the opportunity to experiment, refine techniques, and gain confidence in selecting and applying glazes to enhance their ceramic work.All materials and firing costs are included in the course fee.
