Sympathy design is an important aspect of commercial floristry, and this three-session course will teach you the key skills of how to make popular & classic design shapes. In the first session you will use your materials to practice making a hand-tied sheaf- and then take this apart to make a single ended natural style spray in florists foam. The following weeks will focus on two popular shapes- a cushion or pillow and a solid heart. These will include traditional skills such as all-over basing, and applying ribbon edging, as well as a more contemporary textured mixed flower and foliage design. Each session will cover recommended materials choices, a range of techniques, and will consider potential design & materials adaptations. This is an essential class for anyone looking to build a portfolio of design skills for potential freelance use or is ideal for home florists who want to be able to make classic sympathy designs for family and friends.
